In the mid 1920's, Lakeshore Drive connected Barrie with Allandale. In 1950, when the 400 Highway was constructed, it allowed for more traffic , thus enabeling Barrie to grow even more. Lakeshoreis named for its proximity to Kempenfelt Bay.
You can cruise Kempenfelt Bay on the Serendipity Princess. The boat is a paddle-wheel boat and it offers sightseeing excursions, that leave from the Barrie Town Dock. Kempenfelt Bay is ideal for all kinds of water activities, from sailing, fishing, canoeing, power boating and kayaking. TheLakeshore area hosts the Barrie Marina. The Marina has 15 serviced boatslips that can accommodate boats up to 60’ exclusively for use by transient boaters.
